Education

About Education:

The School Education Department is the largest department consisting of Primary and Secondary stages, assumes greater significance and aims at imparting minimum and essential general education to all the children in the age group of 6-15 years and to equip them with necessary competencies to shape them as useful and productive citizens. Andhra Pradesh has adopted the national pattern of education i.e. 10+2+3. Out of 10 years of schooling, the first 5 years i.e. Classes I to V constitute the Primary stage, the next two years i.e., Class VI & VII the Upper Primary stage and the remaining 3 years i.e., Classes VIII to X, the Secondary stage. Concerted efforts are made in all the schools in the State with a well-knitted field functionaries monitoring system to take the Education to the nearest place of residence of the school going aged children, even in remote, tribal and hillock areas. Andhra Pradesh has attained 100% access by providing at-least One Primary School with in the reach of one kilo meter. Today any child in any part of Andhra Pradesh can access a school with in one kilometer radius. The Government of Andhra Pradesh in the School Education Department is committed to providing quality education from Class I to X for all the school going age children in the State, including general and linguistic minorities, and other disadvantaged-groups.

The main objectives of the School Education Department is:-

  1. Universalisation of Elementary Education
  2. Universalisation of Secondary Education

To meet the above objectives the department has taken up the following activities:

  1. To enroll all the children in the age group of 6-15 years
  2. To provide early childhood education to the children in the age group of 3-6 years
  3. To provide quality education up to class X
  4. To develop literary and numeric skills and social awareness in students
  5. To create scientific attitudes
  6. To promote cooperation, tolerance and self-control
  7. To promote vocational efficiency and productivity
  8. To develop among children the qualities of Social, industrial and cultural leadership.
  9. To prepare the children for higher education and to provide teacher education at Elementary and Secondary levels.

Administrative Setup:-

District Level:-

  1. At district level, the District Educational Officer (DEO) is the Head of the District Educational Administration. The DEO is an Administrator, Inspecting Officer and an Academician.
  2. He is assisted by an Assistant Director in the Educational Administration of the District. Another Assistant Director to look after Legal & MDM issues.
  3. He is also assisted by one Assistant Commissioner for Government Examinations in the work relating to Public Examinations of VII and X Classes.

Mandal Level:-

  1. At Mandal Level, Mandal Educational Officers (MEOs) are the field functionaries.
  2. They are the Inspecting Officers for Primary and Upper Primary Schools in their Mandals.
  3. In order to strengthen the Mandal Level Education System, the posts of Mandal Educational Officers and Deputy Inspectors of Schools are upgraded to Gezetted cadre in 1998.

Geographical Location and Topography

Nizamabad District is bounded in the North by Nirmal district and in the East by Jagityal and Sircilla Rajanna districts, West & South by Kamareddy district. The geographical area of the District is 4288 Sq Kms. Total Forest area is 19.90 % of the geographical area (853.21 sq kms).  The temperature fluctuations are high in the district. The minimum temperature 13.70c and mean maximum is 39. 90C. At times the temperature goes as low as 50 c during winter and rises as high as 470 during peak summer.

  4. Total (185) Vidya Volunteers engaged in schools.

Nationalized Text Books :-

  1. The required indent for Nationalized Text Books has been sent to Commissioner & Director of School
  2. Education, Hyderabad for the academic year of 2018-19. 933024 books are required  for this academic year.

Total Indent – (717893), Received – (819671), Distributed – (794483), Balance – (25188) for the year 2017-18.

SARVA SHIKSHA ABHIYAN (SSA)

UNIFORMS

  1. 2 Pairs of Uniforms were distributed for the academic year 2017-18.
  2. Uniforms cloths were distributed from Mandal points to schools through SMCs. Two pairs of uniforms are  being stitched to (93360) children.
  3. Total amount Rs. 96,75,500/- have been released to (1227) schools for the academic year 2017-18.

INCLUSIVE EDUCATION

  1. Conducting 4 Physiotherapy Camps in every Mandal in month.
  2. Divisional level camps are conducted with the help of ALIMCO students and proposals are prepared to supply helping appliances to the needy students.
  3. 218children provided with Escort allowance 250/- per month for 10months
  4. 255 children provided with transport allowance 250/- per month for 10 months
  5. 147 CwSN are benefitted through Home Based Education.
  6. 37 IERP’s are engaged to provide Inclusive Education.
  7. 360 Children are enrolled in Bhavitha centers to provide School Readiness Programme.
  8. Out of (19) Bhavitha Centers (07) Bhavitha Centers have their own buildings in Armoor, Nandipet, Nizamabad, Morthad, Bodhan, Sirikonda and Yedapally.

Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas

Introduction:-

What is KGBV :

Government of India have taken the initiation of “Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya” for setting up of 36 Residential schools in the Nizamabad with boarding facilities at elementary level for girls belonging predominantly to SC, ST OBC and Minorities in difficult areas.  The scheme will be coordinated with the existing schemes of Department of Elementary Education and Literacy namely Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), National Programme for Education of Girls at Elementary Level (NPEGEL) and Mahila Samakya (MS).

Objectives :

To ensure access and quality education to the girls of disadvantaged groups of society by setting up Residential schools with boarding facilities at elementary level.

Scope and coverage of the scheme :

  1. The norms for the programme is to identify educationally backward blocks as per census data of 2011 i.e., less than 46.58% Female Literacy Rate and Gender gap more than 21.7%
  2. Government of Andhra Pradesh has sanctioned 36 KGBV Residential Schools in Nizamabad District.

State Initiatives :

  1. Construction of buildings
  2. Sensitization and training for teachers and staff
  3. Community awareness programmes to motivate and prepare the girls and their families to send them to Residential Schools.
  4. (3861) students are studying in (25) KGBVs.
  5. In the district, In the academic year of 2017-18 (06) New KGBVs (E/M) have been started in Mupkal, Mugpal,  Yergatla, Indalwai, Rudrur and Mendora and (425) students have been admitted.
